Ulysses by James Joyce (1920)
Ulysses is an experimental fictional novel that follows a day in the life of an ordinary Dubliner in 1904. The structure of the novel is loosely based on the Odyssey, with different writing styles and presentations of the plot throughout the story. To capture the experimental nature of the novel, I wanted to combine different styles of imagery. to do this, I used realistic photography with the art nouveau style early 20th century.
New York Trilogy by Paul Auster (1987)
This series of three novels written by Paul Auster is a mystery series with similar plot lines that follow a crime novel writer who begins to have mysterious experiences in their real life. With this in mind, I wanted to tie the them of a writer being involved in the crime mysteries that reflect their own writing.
